Carnac undertook detailed engineering design and drafting services for the refurbishment of a sulphur melting pit. The items to be refurbished or replaced included:
A suspended access platform;
Pit agitators;
Pit heating coils;
Pit lids;
Piping and connections; and
Connections to input chutes and fire suppression;
Carnac carried out the following:
3D laser scanning;
Structural engineering calculations to support design decisions;
Detailed design drawings;
3D models;
Structural engineering calculations;
Module assemblies; and
Piping tie-ins and layout drawings.
Carnac’s work addressed issues relating to unsafe and inadequate access platforms and hazardous material spillage. Carnac provided a modular design for the melting pit areas to allow rapid installation of prefabricated modules to minimise plant outages and improve safety outcomes.
