Carnac was engaged by the client to provide engineering support to assess operational issues that the client's fines plant was experiencing since the completion of commissioning late 2015.
Digestion Flash Vessels
The client reported that the flash vessels in the digestion facility were receiving significant internal erosion around the flash vessel inlet nozzle, the inlet riser, witches hat and cone shell. With past investigations and mitigations to minimise wear in mind, Carnac reviewed and provided recommendations on how these nozzles may be modified to potentially reduce internal vessel wear and optimise flows.
Balanced Machines Greenfields Execution
Radial Stacker Rail Replacement
Programme Management for Priority Works Projects
Mine Dewatering
As the life of mine has developed, some pits have progressed to below water table operations. Carnac was engaged by the client to undertake a study to assess the preliminary engineering study performed internally by the client and identify further work to progress design with regards to plans for dewatering.
Booster Pump Mechanical Seals
Increasing pump failures over 2015 were attributed to mechanical seal failures that were catastrophically failing every 2-3 weeks despite having an intended lifespan of 15 months. Carnac identified issues with the system that saved the client close to $250k in maintenance costs and over $3m in production losses, orders of magnitude greater than the $10k in consulting fees charged.
